It’s a short read, but something you can return to for comfort when you feel like no one gets it.Just what I needed I bookmarked several pages (at least I _think_ they were marked), but besides going to those “me” or “good for me” pages, I know I’ll read this in its entirety again and again. Thanks, Marzi, for creating this book.Best Book Purchase Ever This book is officially my new happy/safe space. I’ve followed Marzi for a while on Facebook, so this was essentially a meeting of two of my favorite mediums for escaping a world of non-anxiety-having extroverts: social media and books. Reborn on the Run Pdf

ISBN: B07K4BCVML
Title: Reborn on the Run Pdf My Journey from Addiction to Ultramarathons

Aside from her rock star looks, Catra Corbett is a standout in the running world on her accomplishments alone. Catra is the first American woman to run over 100 miles or more on more than 100 occasions and the first to run 100 and 200 miles in the Ohlone Wilderness, and she holds the fastest known double time for the 425-miles long John Muir Trail, completing it in 12 days, four hours, and 57 minutes.

And, unbelievably, she's also a former meth addict.

After two years of addiction, Catra is busted while selling, and a night in jail is enough to set her straight. She gives up drugs and moves back home with her mother, abandoning her friends, her boyfriend, and the lifestyle that she came to depend on. Her only clean friend pushes her to train for a 10K with him, and surprisingly, she likes it and decides to run her first marathon after that.

In Reborn on the Run, the listener keeps pace with Catra as she runs through difficult terrain and extreme weather, is stalked by animals in the wilderness, and nearly dies on a training run but continues on, smashing running records and becoming one of the world's best ultrarunners.

Catra Corbett Runs Everything Catra Corbett has been one of my biggest running inspirations for a while now, but this book made me love her even more. I had no idea about her past before picking this book up, I just knew that she was a badass female runner over 50 who I definitely wanted to be like. Learning about her story was really impactful and made me know that I definitely want to run an ultra one day, and that she is even more amazing than I could have imagined. If you're a fan of running, badass women, adorable doxies, or are interested in narratives about overcoming addiction, this book is probably for you. There are a few minor editing issues that made me want to figure out how to offer to edit all of her work for free (because I love her, and therefore could never charge her), but the story more than made up for the odd misplaced word. So if you're a grammar freak...calm down. It will be okay. Enjoy the book anyway.Amazingly inspiring! I’ve been following Catra and her story since I became a runner a couple of years ago. The more I read about her, the more I identified with her and I’ve always felt a connection with her. I always hoped that she would write a book someday. My fitness journey is very similar to hers as I too believe that running has saved me. It is my therapy. When I’m out on the trails, I feel a spiritual connection between myself and nature and it’s unlike any feeling I’ve ever felt before. Catra describes this perfectly in her book and at times I felt like she was speaking for me. I finished the book in two days as I was unable to put it down after I started it! I look up to Catra and I hope to advance in my running as she has. Catra is not only a great runner, but she is also a great person who truly cares for others. I am a social worker so this concern for others is also very near and dear to me. I’ve been telling friends and co-workers who are interested in following a healthy lifestyle about Catra and encouraging them to read her story. I know that she will inspire them just as she has inspired me! I want to thank her for putting herself out there and sharing her story!!!A story of fortitude, of overcoming pain, of total focus I first heard of the Dirt Diva back in 2004 when she first set a John Muir Trail speed record, and have been Facebook friends for a long time, as I post JMT records on my website. I've never met her in person, though crossed paths on Mission Peak once. Her exploits over the years have been amazing, and this book gives some insight into what makes Catra run. It is a good read, and I am sure, encouraging to anyone trying to overcome an addiction. It is also an insightful view of just what gets someone into meth.If you are looking for a story of fortitude, of overcoming pain, of total focus, then this book will keep you engaged. If you are looking for the story of what makes ultra athletes, this is the story for you. If you are looking for a way out of addiction, this is the story for you.

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In the epic next chapter of the Red Rising Saga, the #1 bestselling author of Morning Star pushes the boundaries of one of the boldest series in fiction.

NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY NPR

They call him father, liberator, warlord, Slave King, Reaper. But he feels a boy as he falls toward the war-torn planet, his armor red, his army vast, his heart heavy. It is the tenth year of war and the thirty-third of his life.

A decade ago Darrow was the hero of the revolution he believed would break the chains of the Society. But the Rising has shattered everything: Instead of peace and freedom, it has brought endless war. Now he must risk all he has fought for on one last desperate mission. Darrow still believes he can save everyone, but can he save himself?

And throughout the worlds, other destinies entwine with Darrow’s to change his fate forever:

A young Red girl flees tragedy in her refugee camp, and achieves for herself a new life she could never have imagined.

An ex-soldier broken by grief is forced to steal the most valuable thing in the galaxy—or pay with his life.

And Lysander au Lune, the heir in exile to the Sovereign, wanders the stars with his mentor, Cassius, haunted by the loss of the world that Darrow transformed, and dreaming of what will rise from its ashes.

Red Rising was the story of the end of one universe. Iron Gold is the story of the creation of a new one. Witness the beginning of a stunning new saga of tragedy and triumph from masterly New York Times bestselling author Pierce Brown.

A Frustrating Expansion of a Brilliant Universe First off, I believe Pierce Brown's original Red Rising trilogy (Red Rising, Golden Son, Morning Star) is one the greatest science fiction sagas in modern literary history. A blend of Star Wars and Game of Thrones - with no fantasy or extraterrestrial elements - the original trilogy offered readers a fully-realized world and nuanced takes on war, empire, and class systems, while also delivering a rip-roaring adventure story. However, Iron Gold - the first installment in a new trilogy set in the same universe - falls a little flat. The revolution is over. Set 10 years after the events of Morning Star, Iron Gold is about what it looks like to rule after a revolution and regime change. Once again, Brown creates a believable world preoccupied with moral dilemmas about politics, war, and power. And, instead presenting the entire narrative from the point-of-view of one protagonist (Darrow), Brown introduces three more POV-characters - which expands the scope of the series considerably. However, one of my issues with this book is its over-reliance on secondary characters. The future society in the Red Rising series is heavily influenced by ancient Roman culture, so nearly every proper noun in the series is unfamiliar to the reader. While this an unique spin (and, honestly, one of the distinctive elements and main draws of the series), it makes keeping track of all the different characters incredibly difficult once things start getting complicated. And, boy, do things get complicated fast.Between all the different Colors, Houses, planets, factions, dynasties, political parties, alliances, underworld gangs, rogue military units, marriages, spies, traitors, sibling rivalries, children, and family grudges, you'll be wishing for a far more detailed index of characters and places than is offered at the start of the book. Kudos to Brown for creating a world that rivals George R. R. Martin's labyrinth of interweaving characters in such a short amount of time.In other words, if you don't have encyclopedic knowledge of the Red Rising universe, you're probably going to spend at least a 1/3 of this book lost and confused.Multiple times throughout the book, I couldn't tell if I was being introduced to a new character or reintroduced to a character I should already know. And, unfortunately, this sapped a lot of the emotional urgency from the narrative when some of these characters were in danger or met grisly ends.At 600 pages, Iron Gold is the longest book in the series thus far, but it doesn't feel as if too much really happens. The action scenes are few and far between, and there are so many characters they sometimes feel as if they've been reduced to pieces moving on a chessboard than fully realized people.I know it sounds as if I'm being overtly negative, but the original trilogy was so riveting, engaging, and personal, it's hard not to feel a little let down by a novel that wants to be so much more than the sum of its parts. With all that being said, there are several elements of the book I can praise.Whether it's an orbital bombardment, beachfront assault, or one-on-one combat, there are very few writers who can capture the horrors of war with such beauty and mess. And Brown is a master at plotting. His ability to create unexpected confrontations and scenarios in a genre so overridden with cliches is second-to-none. At no point was I ever bored.Even though it was (more than) occasionally frustrating, I enjoyed my experience with Iron Gold. I have to remind myself that it's a setup for an entirely new trilogy arc. I am excited for the next installment, and I genuinely care what happens to the characters - including some of the new additions. I'm looking forward to Dark Age, which is due out this fall.I hate to be the voice of dissent here I hate to be the voice of dissent here. But Pierce Brown set himself up by raising the bar impossibly high with all three installments of the Red Rising. Most of the elements (original pattern of speech, rich vocabulary, unapologetic exploration of emotional and philosophical undercurrents, unpredictable twists and turns, constant play of contrasts) that made the Red Rising a masterpiece, surviving my multiple re-reads, are preserved in this book but the soul is missing.Unlike its predecessors, this book is not blessed with self-awareness. I felt so far from the characters and the events like the story has been told too many times before it was written on the pages in front of me.I did get into it around the 80% mark. I wouldn’t even mind cliffhanger if the ride to the cliff was real and not a holo-immersion.Lysander's arc was not essential to this story. I assume it builds the next installment and was added to preserve the chronology. But it was distracting, albeit enjoyable. Lyria's arc is shallow, lots of telling and very little showing after she gets to Luna. I wanted to see Lyria's anger and isolation in a dialogue with other colors which would have helped the world building from the inside out.Too many planets to handle: Luna, Venus, Earth, Io. Too many social powers: Republic, Society, The Red Hand, Syndicate, The Rimm, houses, disassembled Sons of Ares. All of these elements are introduced through too many descriptives, page after page. To be a five-star book, the page count has to double. Or better yet, split it into two books with Lyria's and Lysander's points of view earning the spot of the main arc in two separate books. I will not abandon this author and the Red Rising series. I will not advise any readers to not read this book. Just prepare to put work into it and, perhaps, be ready for a mild disappointment the finish line. The hope for the future books to come is still alive and well. ADDED LATER: Try reading Lysander's point of view as a novel, skipping all others. And then try reading Ephraim's, Darrow' and Lyria's POVs as intended (skipping Lysander's). It flows so much better and your emotions are not at a constant "stop-and-go" pace.

Buy Junior Year - great information! Great book! Definitely purchase in Junior year to take advantage of the most scholarships. We missed out on a lot by not buying until Senior year. It is well organized, the index is incorrect. We have run into a few scholarships that are no longer available, but out of thousands, that isn't terrible. In just 10 minutes my son found at least 20 scholarships he was eligible for. Great deal!Very poorly organized Not impressed with the way this book is “organized”. The State of Residence section is not even organized by state! I bought this thinking it would help direct and pinpoint my search, but it’s just as overwhelming as the internet.... not only lists SO MANY scholarships but also has good information about the entire process of applying for scholarships ... This book not only lists SO MANY scholarships but also has good information about the entire process of applying for scholarships and how best to use this book.

Author: International Code Council
Published Date: 2017-09-13

ICC is a leading organization dedicated to developing a single set of comprehensive, coordinated national model construction codes. To date, 48 U.S. states have adopted various international codes from ICC.

The IPC provides minimum regulations for plumbing facilities in terms of both performance and prescriptive objectives, and provides for the acceptance of new and innovative products, materials, and systems. Important changes include: Updated table for the Minimum Number of Required Plumbing Fixtures. Single-user toilet facilities (a room having a single water closet and a single lavatory) are not required to be labeled for use by only a male or female (separated use designations). Solar thermal water heating systems need to conform to the ICC 900/SRCC 300 standard. Well systems are required to comply with standard NGWA-01 where local requirements do not cover subject matter or are lacking in detail on others.

Thumbs up Book came just as describedReal deal. All codes are here and accurately printed. As far as I can tell has all crutial codes in it. Gas, water, sewer, combustion/makup air sizing charts all all here. Has all revisions made up to 2018. Have not attempted to look up a code that I could not find yet. I'm impressed with product. For $20 I expected for it to be missing lots of important information but looks like this thing is the real deal. Just a paperback copy with no illistrations. As expected Received it quickly. Need for a test in a few weeks. Thanks!

Dare to Lead Download

ISBN: B07DJYFLX8
Title: Dare to Lead Pdf Brave Work. Tough Conversations. Whole Hearts.

Number-one New York Times best-seller.

Brené Brown has taught us what it means to dare greatly, rise strong, and brave the wilderness. Now, based on new research conducted with leaders, change makers, and culture shifters, she's showing us how to put those ideas into practice so we can step up and lead.

Named one of the best books of the year by Bloomberg.

Leadership is not about titles, status, and wielding power. A leader is anyone who takes responsibility for recognizing the potential in people and ideas and has the courage to develop that potential.

When we dare to lead, we don't pretend to have the right answers; we stay curious and ask the right questions. We don't see power as finite and hoard it; we know that power becomes infinite when we share it with others. We don't avoid difficult conversations and situations; we lean into vulnerability when it's necessary to do good work.

But daring leadership in a culture that's defined by scarcity, fear, and uncertainty requires skill-building around traits that are deeply and uniquely human. The irony is that we're choosing not to invest in developing the hearts and minds of leaders at the exact same time as we're scrambling to figure out what we have to offer that machines and AI can't do better and faster. What can we do better? Empathy, connection, and courage, to start.

Brené Brown has spent the past two decades studying the emotions and experiences that give meaning to our lives, and the past seven years working with transformative leaders and teams spanning the globe. She found that leaders in organizations ranging from small entrepreneurial startups and family-owned businesses to nonprofits, civic organizations, and Fortune 50 companies all ask the same question:

How do you cultivate braver, more daring leaders, and how do you embed the value of courage in your culture?

In this new audiobook, Brown uses research, stories, and examples to answer these questions in the no-BS style that millions have come to expect and love. Brown writes, "One of the most important findings of my career is that daring leadership is a collection of four skill sets that are 100 percent teachable, observable, and measurable. It's learning and unlearning that requires brave work, tough conversations, and showing up with your whole heart. Easy? No. Because choosing courage over comfort is not always our default. Worth it? Always. We want to be brave with our lives and our work. It's why we're here."

Whether you've read Daring Greatly and Rising Strong or you're new to Brené Brown's work, this audiobook is for anyone who wants to step up and into brave leadership.

How to be a Brene counter and not a Bean counter This is a spectacular excursion into humane but effective leadership. In her brief bio, it states that Brene Brown has "spent past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame and empathy." Those are not the typical descriptions of bestselling business characteristics. In fact, this book could really be sub-titled,"How to be a better human being and apply your new 'muscles' to the business of leadership." What's fascinating is that the author calls herself a "research professor" with a social work doctorate, and her research has been extensive and varied, from military leaders to teachers. In this regard she has adopted the data-based techniques of Jim Collins, whose "Good to Great" has been the gold standard for many years. But her message is different in that it does not recommend "engineering" innovation, but rather relying on "rumbling with vulnerability," "living into one's values," and having the courage to make decisions even where the outcome may be uncomfortable and possibly a failure. Her idea that uncertainty can lead to the positive result of "unpredictable and uncontrollable connections" is applicable to parents and students and care-givers and workers of all stripes as well as c-suite leaders. Anyone who wants to take control of his or her life and understand the role of humility in human relationships will want to read this book. As she points out, it takes about the same length of time to read as a flight from Los Angeles to New York "with a small delay." Very much worth the time.Love Brene, but loved her other books more I have loved Brene's previous books. She is a great writer and I appreciate how well rounded her ideas are. They are applicable in so many avenues of life. While I understand this book was about "daring" to lead, I was disappointed that this book had a narrow scope of management in slower paced environments (I work in a tech company - extending timelines, circling back, etc. are not luxuries I can use in my day to day). Additionally, I hoped this was going to focus on leading and not direct management, as leading comes in so many forms and not always in formal direct ways. Lastly, many of the ideas and stories shared were reused from other books and shaped into the theme of leadership.A True Path to Wholehearted Living - Brene walks you through the steps on how to Rumble Recommend that you dog-ear pages 70, 76, and 77. Brene Brown excels once again and goes further with her research and writing to describe behaviors and emotions that we've all felt. More importantly, she gives us constructive actions we can take to live and work more effectively and wholeheartedly.Page 70 sums up the journey her book will take you on should you chose to go. It reads, "Leaders must either invest a reasonable amount of time attending to fears and feelings, or squander an unreasonable amount of time trying to manage ineffective and unproductive behavior."Pages 76 and 77 give you sixteen specific examples of Armored Leadership and Daring Leadership. You'll recognize them immediately. And you will be able to call out the behaviors that are holding you back or propelling you forward. On subsequent pages she unpacks the examples so that we can put the words to work for ourselves and our colleagues.

Bad quality I’ve opened the book about three times, and it’s alresdy coming apart. Some of the pages did not print correctly and were stuck together, which tore as I separated them. I couldn’t return the book since I’ve begun my “mini-Mester” class, and need to read daily, and cannot waste time waiting for another to arrive.Good condition Good conditionannoying, and frustrating The book is redicularly confusing, annoying, and frustrating,, don’t waste your money
